Donald Byrd, Great Trumpet Man Passes
SADDENED by the passing away recently of the eloquent man of the trumpet, Donald Byrd. His sound was so very exciting, so lyrical and quite engaging. His improvisatory ideas were shiny and fresh and so vibrant they had brilliant impact on the mind. The super brass men like Donald Byrd were so wonderful and such a joy for all of us who love the magical world of jazz.
