Scotty

THE WILD NOVEL, 'This Side of Paradise' is a thrillingly huge joy.  This gutsy novel by the terrific F. Scott Fitzgerald is a crafty exploration into the cosmopolitan lives of well-to-do humans in the early 20th Century.  Indeed the writer one might call "Scotty" is a crafty and sharp individualist.

Lee Child Pop Culture Ideas

JACK REACHER is a somewhat sleek, unique character orchestrated by the fertile novelist mind of Lee Child.  This man writes in a startling, gritty tough way and reminds one a tiny bit of the shrewd one, Raymond Chandler. Mr.. Child's recent book on Reacher...'Never Go Back'... is a good read.  It is an interesting exploration of the stylish pop culture dynamic.

Sigmar Polke

THE FLAMBOYANT ARTIST, Sigmar Polke was a strange man with a terrifically creative artistic interpretation.  His work like Andy Warhol, was so picaresque...my...so provocative.  His folks escaped East Germany in 1953 going on to the more free West. Polke founded 'Capitalist Realism.' It had a saucy irony of modernism that was very engaging. His work in the movement was of course a part of the work of the dynamism of Gerhard Richter and Konrad Fischer (a.k.a. Konrad Lueg), also.

Jackson Pollock

ABSTRACT ART strikes me as so spiritually powerful.  It is difficult to focus on all the wily layers that make up the oeuvre of each artist.  Some males and females in the art world are easy to access intellectually.  Yet, some are very hard to grasp.  Their concepts are often too nefarious, somewhat intensely exuberant. I know the "action painting" of the arch-modernist, jackson Pollock, is vigorous and embellishes a progressivism that swoops down and carries us off into melodious flights of arcane fantasy much akin to listening to the musical strains of the shrewd Mr. E. Grieg.  I calculate that the best aspect of Jackson Pollock's art is his fiery energy that he communicates in such a virile way with his saucy paints.

Craziness of Errands

BIG ERRAND DAYS  drive me so batty.  The only thing that helps is listening to jazz guys like Stanley Turrentine (on the sax) in my vehicle.

Social Media Oddities

SOMETIMES LIFE'S ODD.  The thoughts of some people strike me as strange.  Deep down they are sad and grossly melancholy.  Yet, they want to knock down bridges and have nothing to do with bizarre persons. There is too much sadness now.  We need more music and more joy in living.

Billy Taylor

SLY JAZZ PIANO art of Billy Taylor proves really sleek, indeed.  His classic jazz, so-passionate style gets the job done well.  His style on both ballads and up tempo material is liltingly interesting.

Saul Bellow

GENIUS resides in the very intense literary art of the ebullient Saul Bellow.  His novels and overall works are clever perspectives of a very creative, fertile mind.  The character of 'Augie March' and also the main soul that is 'Humboldt'...oh my...this is prose that leaps off the pages.  This is profound art that enchants.

Art and the South

JOY....This time of year brings a passionate explosion of colors to my part of the South.  So many yellows, pinks, bright greens and wild browns. The fire and ice of Van Gogh and Picasso come exuberantly alive. The vivid enjoyment of the thoughtful, artful part of life is glorious.

'Suits'.....Super Show!

LATELY, I am wildly enjoying the sleek tv show 'Suits' so much on the mighty USA Network.  The quality of the acting and writing is remarkable,  The characters are chic and amusingly acerbic, urbane and quite interesting.

Nice Writing

THE GOOD terse writing of Ernest Hemingway is a real joy.  He does not use too many adjectives.  His 'Torrents' is a fine tome.
