Agatha Christie Is 'Cool.'

YES, AGATHA CHRISTIE is so "cool."  The elegant woman of  mystery writing fame produced so many clever, sleek books that always snared us and made us come away with an engaging reading experience.  Her 'And Then There Were None' and 'Styles Affair' were co wily and chic and sharply-honed chunks of prose.  The wild and intense mystery-style prose of Christie is so memorable...and so great.

'Return to Peyton Place'

I HAD A SUPER TIME late last night watching the truly vintage 1961 film, 'Return to Peyton Place.'  The movie had poignant performances by the quite creative Carol Lynley and powerhouse Jeff Chandler.  This story is the saga of a young, small town woman who writes a feisty, tell-all novel about the weird people she knew in her homeplace while she was growing up.  The depiction of the snarling bigot grand dame in this movie comes off quite clever.  The emotional interaction between the gorgeous, young Carol Lynley and the tough editor and publisher Jeff Chandler is remarkably engaging.  This is an old-style, very entertaining film.

Nice Writing

THE GOOD terse writing of Ernest Hemingway is a real joy.  He does not use too many adjectives.  His 'Torrents' is a fine tome.
