Olé Coltrane - John Coltrane [FULL ALBUM] [HQ]

The Superior Art of John Singer Sargent

THE CLEVER JOHN SINGER SARGENT was a sleek, provocative American artist.  His works of portraiture and landscapes were so emotionally engaging.  His 'Simplon Pass: Reading, 1911' is a persuasive artful conception of a vivid interpretation of women.   It is sometimes unusual when a somewhat whimsical artist is able to produce works of expressive degrees of unique emotionalism. I believe John Singer Sargent brings a melodious sense of passion to his art and indeed it engages all our minds and souls, beautifully.

The Very Powerful Mr. James Joyce

GREATNESS of vibrant superhuman dimensions is found in the powerful prose of the elegant Mr. James Joyce.  Again I read his eloquent, 'Portrait of the Artist As A Young Man' and Dubliners and also the feisty, genius novel...'Ulysses.'  The prose power of Joyce is overwhelming....He does not propagate prose slime like some writers.  His work literally flies off the page.  Indeed his words crackle with an electric, verbal dynamic that is so intoxicating.  I find his brand of passionate writing so amazing and so remarkable.  Like Scott Fitzgerald he has a superb gift of making such empassioned prose statements about his certainly not formulaic characters.

Tech Things 'Bug' Me

PRINTER difficulty has bugged me today.  I am tired of having to deal with these supposedly helpful tech devices...I was a soul who came up with typewriters and so now all these usb ports and other drives that have to be treated so delicately have truly driven me right off the deep end of absurdity, lately...I am praying the Man Upstairs will deign to help me out and enable me to see some light at the end of the tunnel as R.N. used to say.

The Emotions of Our American Culture

CALIFORNIA CHROME ...truly a remarkable horse.  Tonight I watched the very exciting running of the Belmont Stakes up in New York.  I found myself getting so energized.  I don't know when I have gotten so psyched up with emotion.  I found myself cheering wildly for California Chrome to win the Belmont.  When the race was over I thought about a myriad of emotions that came over me while watching my good tv. These thoughts piqued my curiosity.  I wonder why it is that when we Americans suddenly have an experience that so grabs our attention we go bananas just like little boys and get madly excited and start jumping around in the passionate rawness of what is happening.  This event called a horse race is actually a short deal and yet it can get us all so rejuvenated that we forget our old man's pain and our hellish loneliness.  I figure what took place at the Belmont Stakes was a provocative, delicious tonic emotionally for me and probably many others like me. Thank God our weird culture can take in so many colors of the artist's palette of passions.  A healthy, strong horse like California Chrome is a terrific celebration of life.  The most talked about animal at the Belmont this evening surely helped out all of us this fantastic gorgeous American evening.

'American Hustle' Is Unusual

EMOTIONAL, VIGOROUS dramas are often hard to deal with.  'American Hustle' is a cunning film.  It has very robust performances by Bale, Cooper, Adams and Lawrence.  Vigor jumps around all over the place in this firebrand cinematic furor.  This is not the routine American movie.  The 'hip' qualities really spin this movie web along quickly.

Blue Monday Blues Jam with "Charlie Musselwhite - Part 1"

The Genius of Nabokov

VLADIMIR NABOKOV remains an historic literary figure of genius proportions.  This is not just another iconoclastic, medium-range writer.  It is my feeling that Mr. Nabokov hit his pinnacle with his shrewd analytical, so-sophisticated novel called 'Lolita.'  He injected so much visceral, vividly wild emotion into that crafty work.  And later when they made a stunning film of 'Lolita' the performances of James Mason, Sue Lyon and Shelley Winters were overwhelmingly outstanding.  The attraction of the professorial type to the lusty young female crackles with an explosive wit that shows me Nabokov has the cojones to put together a rich, sleek and powerhouse, psychological story that madly brings readers into the intense existential angst that is the conundrum of the Nabokov set of unique characters.  For many years I have contemplated the amazing panorama of achievements developed by Mr. Nabokov.  And even today I believe knowing and grasping the literary explosiveness of a man like Vladimir is certainly an engaging experience for one to have.

Nice Writing

THE GOOD terse writing of Ernest Hemingway is a real joy.  He does not use too many adjectives.  His 'Torrents' is a fine tome.
