Junior Mance: Delight of a Piano Performer
Fine, kickin' jazz piano is lots of fun. Listening today to a delight of a jazz piano guy....Junior Mance. He has a blues style that is full of decisive passion. The song I so much enjoyed today was 'Don't Cha Hear Me Callin' To Ya' and my ...it was so right for this lovely, sunshiney day. The firm, pulsating and rather percussive keyboard work of Junior Mance feels remarkable. Just like other vigorous piano men like Horace Silver and Oscar Peterson, yes, Horace Silver and Oscar Peterson can thrill us with their music, too. Junior Mance has the real energy needed to charm us with grand and profound jazz.

Snow Melting.......It's Big JAZZ times!
A Beautiful Day! The snow is melting! Wowee! Happy, Jazzy Times! I celebrated by listening to super-wild Count Basie, Maynard Ferguson, John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins and Miles Davis music. Also enjoyed jumpin' good sounds from the fabulous Oscar Peterson on the keyboard!

The Robust Tenor Sax of 'Lockjaw' Davis
Eddie 'Lockjaw' Davis is one of my favorite powerhouse tenor saxophone people. The man has music with so much muscle and also his material packs a tremendous sense of swing. Today, I got back into his music and his sound was so fresh and robust. His backup guys were the master, Oscar Peterson on piano, The profound Ray Brown on bass and a good and feisty Jimmie Smith on the drums. My favorite tunes in this particular set were, 'This Can't Be Love' and a clever number, 'I wished on the Moon.' Eddie 'Lockjaw' Davis and the incredible Oscar Peterson on the piano....man, what marvelous music!

Wow! Dawgs win and Mr. James Brown
A huge Georgia DAWGS soul like me sure had a big time last night. The DAWGS faced a truly tough South Carolina unit. It was rough but somehow the hard-working DAWGS hung in there and got themselves a win. Lord, it was a close one. The game kept jumpin' back and forth like big jazz gettin' me going. But ah, sweet victory for the good DAWGS. Lots of mental excitement for me so I kind of got into listening to some big boss James Brown joltin' music, that 'Got You.' Man, those soulful, pulsin' high-speed, great raw, blue notes coupled with some super-grand looping, piano runs from the incredible imaginative man of jazz, Mr. Oscar Peterson...Well, bless me that makes an excellent scene for one to get motorized in. It's interesting how so many unique ingredients are bubbling around in our grand whoop it up recipe that is the real southern culture. We got all kinds of happy feelings going. Mighty DAWGS, James Brown, cracklin' strong as the dickens powerhouse jazz and ever fascinating super-grand fashions. The folks of Metro Atlanta and Athens and all of Georgia know how to get the good things going. Oh, please go strong. Listen to huge music fellas like James Brown, Oscar Peterson,Otis Redding and the like. It's the start of another great September week so kick things into gear and take off for greatness everybody.

Nice Writing
THE GOOD terse writing of Ernest Hemingway is a real joy. He does not use too many adjectives. His 'Torrents' is a fine tome.
