Blues man Luther Allison socks it to us!

Luther Allison is a somethin' else electric blues master. Oh, my, my. Good grief! What a profound genius. I heard him today and it was so wild, cuz the man honestly blew me away. He has music that's so potent, so powerful. I tell you listening to the feisty Luther Allison in the 'Live in Paris' album was tremendously dynamic. This man from Chicago has an amazing ability to really make the big blues happen. His guitar work and that muscle kind of a voice...well all that blend of joyful music just produces a sensational kind of ribald and I mean whoopee-good gigantic blues experience. My two favorite songs on this particular set were the super song from way back, 'My Babe' and also the incredible and so sly song, a number called 'Crazy Jealous.' What is this mysterious brand of music we call the Blues? It is hard to really encapsulate... all the fierce angst and raw emotion that are part of the good recipe in kickin' and meaningful bold Blues music. But men like the strong guy Luther Allison can certainly get the job done. I figure another icon who has the ability to make us want to jump up and dance the wild thing---the fantastic Buddy Guy---well he also can sure get the job done right. When you hear the muscular, edgy music of Luther Allison and also the sleekly clever Buddy Guy, well then it sends you off on a great kickin' trip into a vivid profound musical journey of good whoop-it-up experiences. Great BLUES can surely fix a soul up just right. It makes the whole core of the human just tingle in a maddening, delightfully superior way!

Blind Willie McTell packs raw blues wallop

Blind Willie McTell was one of the finest examples of passionate Georgia blues singers. Not only was the man a great blues vocalist he was also a superb guitarist. His clear finger-picking technique and good lyrics made him a grand example of early Twentieth Century blues work. In the late twenties and thirties this artist did a big amount of work for recording people who came to Atlanta. He got into working out with labels of the times like Vocalion, Bluebird, OKeh and then there was Columbia also. The best thing about Blind Willie McTell happens to be his amazing raw and so pure sound and also his great sense of beat. One of my favorite tunes of his I believe is 'Dying Crapshooters Blues.' Man that song sends me. It has a beat that is so wily, indeed so amazingly clever. When one listens to other Blues giants like Muddy Waters and Buddy Guy it is easy to see how much the man named Blind Willie McTell influenced these people. Those good fellas--Muddy Waters and Buddy Guy--also have a powerhouse strong sound just like the grand, McTell. I love Blues because it helps me to shake off a lot of the senseless cynicism so many quasi-thinkers have tried so hard to jam in my brain over the years. I know Blind Willie McTell (born in Thomson, Georgia on May 5, 1901) was a profound and blazingly creative man and we have all had our lives enriched by him.

Mr. Intensity: The Superstar Buddy Guy!

Buddy Guy can hit hard with some of the best rockin' and sockin' potent blues music one can possibly imagine. Tonight I listened to a superb rendition of 'Hound Dog' sung by the magnificent blues woman, Big Mama Thornton and the main backup guy was again I let you have it once more, the incomparable Buddy Guy. Big Mama Thornton has a tremendous blues shouter voice that makes your whole body want to get up and dance just as hard as you can. Oh...I also heard the good fella Buddy Guy doing a so-fine performance of a super tune, 'Sweet Home Chicago.' The man can bring the huge sound of Chicago to us all and really stir us up. What a fantastic guitar player and singer is Buddy Guy. Yeah, the man has lit up my evening just right!
