The Provocative Atlanta Scene
EXCITING, POWERFUL...That is the bubbling essence of the modern Atlanta scene. This really seems like no other Deep South city for there is a rich heritage of superior art, music and dynamic cultural activities here. Newspapers like The Atlanta Journal chronicled the startling and unique changes in the explosive cultural life of Atlanta for a very long time. Feisty, shrewd writers came out of this corner of the U.S. Knowing beloved writers like Celestine Sibley and also Erskine Caldwell came from Georgia means there is an ongoing tradition of infinite cultural creativity coming out of the Atlanta area.

The 'Chic' Van Gogh
VINCENT VAN GOGH remains a quite interesting persona in the sphere that is art. I find that his sleekly articulated colors and swirls of style in his bounteous paintings send one into a merry dream of invigorating esthetic excitement. His bold art was so poignant for his time. Van Gogh's art appears akin to the rugged cinematic art the Coen Brothers articulated in their genius film the one called 'Fargo.' It is a pleasure to really comprehend the tasteful, meaningful art that reverberates in the work of Mr. Van Gogh. His 'Sunflowers' art has always appealed to me because of its rich treasure trove of colors that it encapsulates. Van Gogh's art is also much like the intense film acting of H. Bogart. As with Mr. Bogart with Van Gogh there continually pops such vibrant intensity.

Mr. Raymond Chandler
RAYMOND CHANDLER knows how to craft exciting high quality mystery or as some might say thriller novels. The elegance of the virile Chandler style is saucy, perky and brittle and explosive. The sleek renditions of 1940s and 1950s environments are compelling and bring the reader into the gutsy stories beautifully. It is sparkling fun to read Chandler tomes like 'The Big Sleep,' 'The High Window' and the multi-level potent book entitled 'The Long Goodbye.' It makes all of us excited prose dilletantes exuberant to realize what artful modicums of substance individualists like Raymond Chandler have provided that over time have seeped beautifully into the muliculturalism of our wild American culture. Superb prose adds facile cleverness to the brilliance of a country and that is Mr. Raymond Chandler's gift.
Abstract ideas
MIGHTY ABSTRACT art helps me get goin' in the mornings. I believe art of Kandinsky and Picasso and DeKooning happens to be very helpful.

'A Thousand Clowns'
LAST NIGHT I saw a very moving film on Turner. It was 'A Thousand Clowns.' This story of Murray and his sister's son was intense...and so poignant. The NYC scenes were so captivating. The main character Murray, played By Jason Robards, was very powerful. Great performance. Also, Martin Balsam playing Murray's brother was remarkable. Super acting in this one, especially the strong actors, Robards and Balsam.

Nice Writing
THE GOOD terse writing of Ernest Hemingway is a real joy. He does not use too many adjectives. His 'Torrents' is a fine tome.
