My Thoughts on Easter 2013

GORGEOUS EASTER!  I love this time of year...this glorious and remarkable Easter Time.  I feel the Deep South people have many unique cultural variables that are a strong part of the robust tributaries that flow into the mainstream that is our overall lifestyle structure.  I love the dramatic, emotional and rugged bloodlines that we Southern people possess.  Our spiritualism, our art, our writing and our music make a resounding crescendo in our mind.  The Bible, the Lively Arts and the vibrant deep feelings of love help energize us and put us on new planes of truly meaningful living.  Let us enjoy our Johnny Cash, our Dolly Parton, our James Brown and Ray Charles and of course the fantastic man of South Carolina...John Birks "Dizzy" Gillespie.  Read S. Lanier, Lewis Grizzard, Erskine Caldwell and Margaret Mitchell and let's each one of us enjoy energetic moments more and more.  I love the fact that a good, close friend gave these beautiful Easter flowers today.  Life is a beautiful essence.

Beautiful Easter Flowers!

These truly gorgeous flowers were given to us by a good friend today...love Easter'

Happy Easter To Everyone!

A GIGANTIC HAPPY EASTER to everyone.  The bright, exciting, vigorous event of EASTER is so dynamic and beautifully dramatically woven into the cloth of our multicultural culture.  Let us all enjoy this terrific and so lovely time of the year....Let us give thanks for being culturally ALIVE!  I love EASTER and its soulful meaning!

Elisabeth Hasselbeck

THE FUN PERSON.....That's Elisabeth Hasselbeck on the mighty 'View.'  Wow, really enjoy her feisty, grand culture verve so much.

Tle elegant Tommy Flanagan

TOMMY FLANAGAN makes the piano come wildly spinning joyously to life.  His style of shiny jazz piano seems so joyful, indeed.  Of course his backing up of the fine Ella was so engaging, also.

COOL

LOVE COOL DAYS like this one.  The creativity revs up profoundly.

VIBES GUYS

A FINE VIBES GUY is BOBBY HUTCHERSON.  Saxophone men like me love the lyrical jazz of the sound of Hutcherson.  The Bright Big City sounds  of BH are engaging.  Working with men like Freddie Hubbard and Eric Dolphy. the man, Hutcherson, has proved over and over he has elegance in jazz conception. Life is FABULOUS with JAZZ!

Tony Curtis, An Actor of Power

SOME MEN HAVE HIGH CONCEPT POWER!  The clever, engaging Tony Curtis, the elegant one, is like that.  It has amused me for a long time studying the craft of the wily Tony Curtis.  He can really act so well.  He proved it fantastically in 'Sweet Smell of Success.'  Mr. Curtis plays a high-pitched strong so emotional breed of cat in 'Sweet Smell' and he vividly lights up the screen.  Another favorite Curtis gem that I like is the hilarity-filled, 'Some Like It Hot.'  That film is a real zinger.  It has plenty of non-stop comic action.  Kind of reminds one of an artful Buster Keaton tour-de-force.

The New Pope

HISTORIC DAY!  We have a new Pope....A Great Soul from Argentina!  This is truly a marvelous day in the cultures of all the world's people!

Political Thoughts

STRANGE stuff going now in Iran, North Korea and Syria.  Provacateur politics is strained and unneeded.  We need to foster more diplomacy and lucid thinking in our conception of international politics. Listen to Chopin and get increasingly politically soothed.

Allen Eager, Wardell Gray

TWO MODERNIST TENOR MEN are Allen Eager and Wardell Gray.  These men have styles that embody robust sax sounds that vividly engage music enthusiasts.  The guys always had mighty fine sidemen.  This was especially true of tenor man, Wardell Gray.  Of course Mr. Eager had that huge, robust sound, also.  Yes, Allen Eager and Wardell Gray are truly super jazz guys.

Soothing Wild Jazz

DIZZY GILLESPIE is a virile, sly trumpet artist.  His jazz is unusual.  His classic tune 'Manteca' grinds along in a wild and wooly way.  It contains plenty of raw drive.  I honestly love it.  This wild jazz soothes me in a strange way.

More Critical Analysis on the film, 'Rebecca'

HUMANS ARE OFTEN STRANGE and difficult to comprehend.  The characters in the odd Hitchcock film, 'Rebecca' are puzzling.  The irascible absurdity of emotional dynamics are played like a crafty shell game by the one known as 'Hitch.' The main story line in this tale involves a young female who marries a wealthy widower and the lo and behold the careening memory of the guy's first wife rears its ugly head and abruptly the rude young woman has many, many woes.  The memory of the other woman runs berserk in the minds of both the rather worn down husband and also the minds and souls of the servants.  Joan Fontaine and Laurence Olivier come across with clever, coy acting performances in this little bit of cinematic oddity.  The snarling undertone of rigid emotionalism is brittle and very engaging in this movie just like in many other Hitchcock works.

Bring Us Better Weather

WEATHER is essential to really fine, focused thinking on our culture.  Please bring us warmer, stable weather.  Let's listen to John Coltrane and feel better.

Nice Writing

THE GOOD terse writing of Ernest Hemingway is a real joy.  He does not use too many adjectives.  His 'Torrents' is a fine tome.
